About

Sampling is a Belgian–Latvian interdisciplinary architecture and design practice based in Ghent and Riga. It is led by Liene Jākobsone (LV) and Manten Devriendt (BE), who founded the practice in 2010.

Sampling has realised a wide range of projects, including buildings and reconstructions of various kinds, large-scale development concepts, as well as exhibition and product design. Their work has been widely published and has received numerous awards and recognitions. Both partners are also actively engaged in international academia, delivering lectures, leading creative workshops, conducting research, and publishing.

Working across multiple scales, Sampling brings together design, architecture, and landscape into an integrated practice. The practice focuses on the interplay between people, space, and environment, seeking to actively shape spatial perception and experience. Simultaneously, it develops new architectural forms and expressions in response to current technological and aesthetic challenges, positioning itself as a driving force in the advancement of the discipline.
