About

Sampling is an interdisciplinary, international and conceptual architecture and design practice. It is led by Liene Jākobsone and Manten Devriendt, who founded the practice in 2010. Sampling has carried out a wide range of projects: buildings and reconstructions of various kinds, development concepts for large areas, as well as exhibition and product design. Their projects have been widely published and have received a number of awards, prizes and other forms of recognition. Both partners are also active in international academia, giving lectures, running creative workshops, conducting research and publishing.
Working at different scales in their day-to-day practice, Sampling inevitably fuse design, architecture and even landscaping into their projects. However, the focus is always on the relationship between people, space and the environment in an attempt to influence the perception of space. In their practice, Sampling also seek new architectural forms and expressions in the context of contemporary technological and aesthetic challenges, and see themselves as one of the driving forces behind the development of the field of architecture.
