This object is a collage of some of the most typical materials found in a 2020's building. They define our built environment as a reflection of our petroleum-based techno-optimism. Although we collectively and individually seek ways to live and build more sustainably and ecologically, this remains the reality that surrounds us, deeply embedded in industry, economics and politics.
But what happens when systemic change is finally achieved? These materials do not last, they are not durable enough to withstand centuries or even decades.
So in this exhibition we propose to capture this moment in the hope that it will soon belong to a forgotten past.
